Color Me Successful
How we react to color depends on where you live. Eastern and Western cultures differ in the meanings they give to colors. In the west, white is purity. In the east, white is death. In India, red is purity and in the United States red is passion, alarm, danger and sexuality. The safest color to use is blue as it is universally seen as a calming color that says stability and honesty.
If you are thinking about creating a new logo for your company or redesigning your old one, think about color first.
What does your logo say about you?
What do the following logos have in common? They use the color blue and they are in the Forbes 500 top 10 list of companies in 2009. In fact, you'd be hard-pressed to find a top company in the United States that doesn't use blue in their logo. Try it! The next most popular color? Red.

What if you want a company that reflects forward thinking? Then try a multi-color approach:

Want to appear expensive, elite or upscale? Use metallics. They will make your customers think of prestige and quality. Black also works:

Green can symbolize abundance, nature, environment and growth.
Color Facts
- Gray is the easiest color on the eye and yellow is the hardest.
- If you use the color green in your website, studies show more people are willing to buy things from your site.
- If you want people to trust you, wear a shirt, top or scarf the same color as your eyes.
- Men are more likely to approach a blond woman than a brunette or redhead because blond (closest to yellow in the spectrum) signifies fun and warmth.
