Step 3: Edit your video
Recommended Video Editing Software (only need one of these)
- Apple's iMovie (free & already loaded onto most new Macs)
- Windows MovieMaker (free & already loaded onto most new PCs) | Other Free Choices for PCs |
- Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum Pro Pack ($95.99 retail)
- Corel VideoStudio Pro X2 ($79.99 retail)
- Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 ($699.99 retail - probably only a good buy if you plan on editing for a living)
Moving Your Files from your Digital Device to Your Computer
- Mac - connect via a FireWire cable
- PC - connect via a USB cable
Opening Your Digital File in Your Program
- Open your video editing program and start capturing (this will differ depending on what program you use)
- Save an unedited version of your file and call it "original". For example: malamutevideo_original.mpg
Editing Tips
- Add titles to your video
- You may want to add music or a voice over narration
- Make sure your video editing isn't choppy
- Keep it short and compelling
- Keep your first video under 5 minutes, 3 minutes is ideal. YouTube has a 10 minute/1 GB limit per video
